LPG Tank Sizes – Bulk LPG Gas Tank – Commercial LPG Tanks
An LPG gas tank is typically a large multi-tonne bulk LPG storage tank. A bulk LPG gas tank, made from welded steel, ranges in size from 0.5 tonnes up to 50 tonnes and larger.
Bulk LPG gas tanks may be galvanized, and are painted in light reflective colours, like white or silver.
Our standard LPG gas bottle sizes are 45kg, 90kg, 190kg and 210kg.
An LPG gas bottle is a storage vessel made from welded steel and is designed for the required pressures and heat expansion of the stored hydrocarbon gases, including propane and butane.
Our larger LPG tanks (190kg and 210kg) are frequently seen at petrol stations for the decanting of LPG into smaller cylinder sizes for use in BBQs and patio heaters.
For larger quantities, bulk LPG gas tanks, LPG bullet tanks, and giant Horton Spheres are used.
What is the Difference Between Industrial LPG tanks and Domestic LPG Gas Bottles
An LPG gas bottle and a bulk LPG gas tank are reliable alternatives to natural gas for home and industry use.
There is no difference in the gas provided to industrial and domestic users regarding LPG use.
The rate of use means that more liquid LPG needs to be vaporized, and that typically means a larger LPG tank.
You’ll need a larger LPG tank for heavier heating usage, including home heating, hot water systems, and commercial applications, than you would need for outdoor cooking.
Residential LPG gas bottles and industrial LPG tanks are identical except for the applications.
LPG Tank – Bulk LPG Tanks
Half-tonne and one-tonne LPG gas tank sizes would be common for large country properties, farms, and smaller commercial enterprises.
Our standard LPG tank sizes range from 0.5 tonnes up to 50 tonnes and larger LPG gas tank sizes.
LPG tanks come in various LPG tank sizes (propane tank sizes) for use in LPG bulk storage.
LPG cylinders are used for lesser storage.
A good conversion rate to remember for cylinder capacity is that 1 kilogram is approximately equal to 1.96 litres of LPG.

LPG tank sizes (propane tank sizes) shown are indicative. Actual LPG gas tank sizes can vary. Extremely large LPG tank sizes (propane tank sizes) are also available.
LPG Tank Regulations – LPG Tank Siting Location Regulations
All of our LPG tank installations comply with relevant LPG gas tank regulations, including LPG tank siting location regulations.
What is an LPG Tank Made Of?
LPG tanks are typically made of welded steel, aluminium, or composites.
Steel is by far the most common material, as it is the easiest to fabricate and low-cost.
Some cylinders are made of aluminium or composites to save on weight, but not for a larger LPG tank.
What Size LPG Cylinder or LPG Tank Do I Need?
The most common Residential home set up is a pair of 45kg (88 Litre) LPG cylinders.
We also supply 90kg and 210kg LPG tanks for properties with high LPG usage, and even larger LPG tanks are available for heavy users.
ELGAS will help you to determine which cylinder or tank size is appropriate for you, based on the gas load and projected consumption.
LPG tank sizes also affect vaporisation rates, which must meet peak gas load.
Commercial LPG Tank Sizes
The LPG tank sizes for LPG tank bulk storage are a cost-effective energy source that varies for different application solutions.
LPG tank storage vessels are sometimes called “LPG Bullet Tanks”; these LPG tanks are for commercial, industrial, and agricultural applications.
Our LPG technicians will supply bulk LPG at your delivery location and load your commercial LPG storage vessels on-site.
LPG Tank Design Standards and Siting Regulations
An LPG tank must comply with bulk LPG gas tank design standards to qualify as reliable supplies for home and industrial use.
When the LPG tanks are installed, they must also follow LPG tank siting regulations or regulations, which take into account propane tank safety regulations.
Acquiring a Bulk LPG Gas Tanks for Bulk LPG Supply
The price of buying an LPG tank outright can cost in the tens of thousands of dollars or even more for very large LPG tanks.
This is why most LPG gas suppliers provide the tank and then charge an ongoing service charge fee which covers the cost of purchasing and maintaining the tank to the required standards.
Once the LPG tank is installed, bulk LPG can be supplied and the LPG gas is priced per litre.
Bulk LPG gas prices are based on tanker deliveries straight into the bulk LPG gas tank.
The price of renting a bulk LPG gas tank varies depending on the tank’s size, the duration of the contract, and various other commercial considerations.
