SWAP’n’GO Gas Bottles – LCC27 Gas Bottle – 9kg Gas Bottle

Your 9kg gas bottle can be an LCC27 gas bottle (type 27 gas bottle) or a POL gas bottle. If you have an old POL gas bottle, you can swap for a newer LCC27 gas bottle at SWAP’n’GO for no extra charge.

So, no LCC27 adaptor needed.

How the SWAP’n’GO gas bottle program works

As the name suggests, our SWAP’n’GO^® program is all about swapping over your empty gas bottle with a full one, and off you go!

No waiting around for someone to manually refill your gas bottle.

You can swap your empty 8.5kg or 3.7kg gas bottle for a full one at over 6,000 dealers across Australia.

If you don’t have an empty gas bottle to swap over, or would like an extra gas bottle on standby at home, you can buy a new full gas cylinder from any of our dealers to get you underway in the SWAP’n’GO program.

The 9kg BBQ gas bottle is the larger bottle filled with 8.5kg of LPG.

The smaller 4kg gas bottle is filled with 3.7kg of LPG.

Swapping POL Gas Bottle for LCC27 Gas Bottle

At SWAP’n’GO, you can swap an older POL gas bottle for a newer LCC27 gas bottle (type 27 gas bottle) at no extra charge.

So, if you purchase a new BBQ with an LCC27 gas bottle connector but have an old POL gas bottle, you just need to swap.

You will find both kinds of gas bottles in the SWAP’n’GO cages during the transition period, which will stretch over a number of years.

Remember, LCC27 gas bottle connectors are backwards compatible with POL regulators.

The LCC27 Gas Bottle Phase-In

SWAP’n’GO has been phasing in LCC27 gas bottles since 2022 and this will continue over the next few years.

LCC27 gas bottles are being introduced into the gas bottle population at a rate that is faster than new LCC27 gas appliances are being sold.

The result is that you will still find both POL and LCC27 gas bottles in the SWAP’n’GO cages for the next few years.

This phase-in process is designed to provide the appropriate number of each type of gas bottle as time goes by.

LCC27 Adaptor Should Be Avoided

Some people might be tempted to use an LCC27 to POL adaptor when they get a new LCC27 BBQ but have an old POL gas bottle.

An LCC27 adaptor should be avoided as it can be prone to leaks, with left and right-hand threads on the same connection.

Also, whilst you can get a POL to LCC27 adapter at Bunnings or other BBQ supply stores, you can save money by simply swapping your old POL gas bottle for a full LCC27 gas bottle at SWAP’n’GO for no extra charge.
